Signet Classics Student Scholarship Essay Contest
Open to kids ages 16-18. $1,000 scholarship & $700 worth of books for your library.
Chose one of 4 options based on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson to write about.
Deadline is 4/15/08

American Foreign Service Association Essay Contest
Open to 9th-12th grade kids. Prize is a trip to D.C., $2,500, $500 for your school.
Topic is "Challenges facing the American Foreign Service in the 21st century"
Deadline is 4/15/08

Oakseed Ministries' Essay Contest
Ages 18-22 & ages 17 and under grade groups. $250-$1,000 prize.
Chose one of seven topics on "Compassion and the child with disabilities" listed on site.
Deadline is 4/15/08

Creative Communications Poetry Contest
Grade groups: K-3rd, 4th-6th, 7th-9th, 10th-12th. $70,000 total in prizes distributed; publication.
Poem can be any topic, but must me no longer than 21 lines.
Deadline is 4/15/08

Holocaust Remembrance Project Essay Contest
Open to kids grades 9-12. Write an essay about the Holocaust and winning essay
will receive $300-$10,000 in cash and scholarships and a free trip to D.C.
Deadline is 4/30/08

SillyBooks Children's Book Writing Contest
Open to kids ages 4-16; you can work individually or in a group. $25/monthly winners, $200/grand prize.
E-mail them a non-fiction or fiction story, and it might get published online as an animated movie illustrated by professional illustrators!
Deadline is 4/31/08 (there are monthly deadlines, but this one is the last one until September!)

All-American Sports Poetry Contest
Elementary school, middle school, high school, and college grade groups.
Write a 25 line or less sports poem. Winners are granted publication online & in newsletters, and an invitation to awards ceremony.
